TECHNOLOGY

Borrow one of the Library’s iPads, laptops or computers for use within the library. ID (photographic ID) must be deposited with staff in exchange for use of the iPads and laptops. With free WiFi connection, the laptops can be used to connect to the Internet, Skype or to use Microsoft Office Suite. Printing can only be done from computers and charges apply. 

MEMBERSHIP

Membership is free and open to all Hinchinbrook residents. All that is required is photographic proof of ID and residence. Special Tourist Cards are also available, with conditions. Visit the Hinchinbrook Shire Library or Halifax Sub Branch to complete your membership application and collect your library card. A responsible adult (parent or guardian) must sign the enrolment forms for children under 16 years of age.

E-RESOURCES

Access a variety of eBooks, eMagazines and Music – all free for members of the Hinchinbrook Shire Library. eBooks can also be borrowed through the library’s online catalogue. Click on the Search tab of the online catalogue. Click on the eplatform link at the bottom of the screen, sign in using your library login (ask the library staff for your login details if you are unsure) and begin browsing and borrowing the ebook collection.

RURAL LIBRARIES QUEENSLAND

As a member of the Rural Libraries Queensland (RLQ) network – access a catalogue of more than 300,000 items online, at any time of the day or night.

Local library members can access the entire Rural Libraries Queensland (RLQ) catalogue, including bestsellers, audio books, popular DVDs, large print books, magazines, ebooks, and free music downloads. So in effect, we borrow the item from another library so you can borrow it from us.

E-TUTORIALS

Instantly access (24/7), a powerful database that provides a direct, secure link, to more than 6,000 Technology Tutorials, offering – immediate, quick-lesson education. Access easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions covering an extensive and varied range of “How do I?” learning topics.

INTER LIBRARY LOANS

The Inter-Library Loan Service obtains material for members that are not available from Hinchinbrook Libraries or the RLQ catalogue. Before requesting an Inter-Library Loan, please check our online catalogue to make sure that the item required is not available through the Rural Libraries Queensland (RLQ) network.
